Purchasing Coordinator

The Purchasing Coordinator works with the Purchasing Manager to ensure timely delivery of required materials and inventory accuracy.

Requisitions supplies in support of production.

Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.

Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.

Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.

Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.

Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.

Approves invoices for payment.

Maintains material costs in PSI & related systems as needed.

Plans and assigns materials for production as needed.

Works with Customer Service and other departments as needed.

Works with warehouse personnel to address issues and increase product turns.

Responsible for implementation and maintenance of job costing system at assigned facility.

Maintains inventory system at assigned facility. Conducts monthly physical inventory and prepares correcting entries.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
• Reads job order and loads jobs into press.
• Fills ink cans and pumps with prescribed inks.
• Inserts shaft through core and secures roll on press in feed position.
• Splices end of roll to stock remaining on press and adjusts tension and feed as directed.
• Starts press, adjusting speed and alignment of stock to the print cylinder as necessary.
• Adjusts printing impression as necessary and runs down approval strip.
• Cuts sample of approval strip from printed roll, inspects for imperfections such as print to print out of register, missing impression, ink starvation or color adjustments, making adjustments as necessary.
• Performs daily, weekly and monthly maintenance as required. Supervisor must approve all maintenance.
• Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards.

SKILL & EFFORT
• Well organized to ensure optimum efficiency.
• A high sense of urgency with a desire to produce high quality product continuously.
• Mechanical analytical ability.
• Software troubleshooting.
• Mathematical (measurement) skills are a must. (Grade 10 minimum)
