Variable printing

Variable printing enables us to print large quantities of labels while changing elements of the content on an individual level. At Resource Label Group, we’re able to print the content changes without stoppage or a slowing of the printing process.

Any market can benefit from variable printing, but the capability is commonly used for game pieces such as sweepstakes and scratch-off labels along with direct mail advertisements. A distinct advantage of variable printing is the ability to personalized each printed product with a different name, address or message.

This level of personalization is particularly useful for direct marketing and customer relationships. Companies can send printed materials directed at each of their targeted customers, providing direct contact with a sense of exclusivity.

What kind of printing options are available for variable printing?

Variable printing is accomplished through the meshing of static and variable content stored on a digital archive. The content can be applied to any digitally printed product from scratch-off labels to extended content labels and everything in between.

Some of the possibilities of variable printing include:

  • Store specific promotional materials
  • Internal instructional materials
  • Personalized URLs and QR codes
  • Multiple languages
  • Barcoding
  • Names
  • Ticket numbering
  • Mailing addresses
  • Messages
  • Graphics
  • And more

The possibilities are nearly endless for variable data printing. Incorporating variable data into your printed materials isn’t just good practice, it’s also an effective way to reach targeted individuals such as potential customers, current customers, employees and more.

How we can help you

When you decide to do your variable printing with Resource Label Group, we will complete your project in one of two ways. We can combine static and variable elements into a single print file before any printing occurs. The printer follows the file and prints every page with both static and variable elements. The second method is to print all the static graphics first and then run those elements through the printer a second time, printing the variable content. This method works well for textual content but can be difficult to incorporate graphical elements.

No matter which method is chosen, your company will provide the static and variable data for us to digitally store for each printing job. As with any project we work on, our team of label experts can help with label designs and provide insight for best practices.
